Edmund A. (Nibs) Mahoney, 88, of Heckscherville, Pa., died on Easter Sunday, March 23.

Born on Jan. 12, 1920 in Mackeys-burg, he was the beloved son of Joseph and Annie Mahoney and the last surviving sibling of Cyril, Elizabeth, Nellie, Catherine, Joseph, John, Patrick, Anne and James.

He was the husband of the late Rose Devers and father to Edmund Mahoney, Margaret Mahoney, Barbara Schwartz, Joseph Mahoney, Mary Holobetz, Anne Glose, and Patrick Mahoney, who died in 1963.

His eight grandchildren include Colleen Derfler, Jennifer Woodson, Ronald Schwartz, Katie and Meghan Holobetz; Herbie, Lauren, and Patrick Glose; and his five great-grandchildren, Dev and Corey Woodson, Jack and Sean Derfler, and Avery Schwartz.

Edmund was a member of St. Kieran’s Church, Heckscherville. He was an active volunteer during his lifetime and a member of the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, Clover Club, Old Mackeysburg Club, and the St. Clair Old Timers Baseball Club.

He loved his work as a shovel operator for 40 years. He also worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps in the late 1930s.

Interment will be in St. Kieran Number 2 Cemetery, Branch Township, Pa.
