Vincent Peter Dellatorre of Oak Bluffs died at home surrounded by family on May 26. He was 57. He fought a courageous battle against cancer for six months, while inspiring many with his strength and hope. Vin was the son of the late Dominic and Mary Sarno Dellatorre of Springfield. He was born on Dec. 20, 1950, in Springfield.

Vin began his career as a draftsman with United Engineers in Springfield. He later spent 15 years as a sales representative in the papermaking industry for Atlanta Wire Works. For the past 10 years, Vin has worked for UPS as a supervisor on the Vineyard.

Vin’s true passion was spending time with friends and family on the beach, in his beautiful garden or in his welcoming home. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, shellfisherman, Steuben art glass collector and bonsai gardener.

He will be lovingly remembered for his bold personality tempered by his gentle heart. 

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Linda Dellatorre, his daughter Erin Simmons and her husband Gary, and his grandchildren Avery and Micah Simmons, all of the Vineyard; a sister, Dianne Dellatorre-Stevens and her husband Richard of Longmeadow; and a mother in law, Dorothy Bennett of Bourne.

Visiting hours will be held at Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, Oak Bluffs from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 31. A funeral Mass will follow at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Massasoit Avenue, Oak Bluffs at 1 p.m.
