Janice Margaret Asadoorian, 68, of West Tisbury lost a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on August 23. She was the beloved auntie mother to Amy Marie Asadoorian of West Tisbury.

She was a graduate of Rockland High School and attended Bentley College for computer programming. She was vice president of the computer programming department at the Rockland Trust Bank in Rockland before retiring to her home she had built 20 years ago in West Tisbury. She also worked and resided for two years in Geneva, Switzerland.

Janice loved painting with oil and watercolors, reading and gardening. She was a world traveler, favoring the European countryside. She had a great fondness for poetry and loved roses.

In addition to her niece, Amy and fiancé Michael Lima and her children, all of West Tisbury, Janice, who was predeceased by her late parents, Emily (Evaska) and James Asadoorian, formerly of Rockland, is survived by her brothers and their wives, James and Patti Asadoorian of Marshfield, Jerald and Gail Asadoorian of Carver and Richard a nd Karen Asadoorian of Sagamore Beach; her aunt and uncle, Martha and George Drinkwater of Framingham; her cousin Diane Martin and her family of Framingham; three nieces, Laurie Meyazaki, Deborah Davis and Kim Asadoorian; four nephews, Michael Asadoorian, Danny Asadoorian, (predeceased by Timothy As adoorian) and Richard James Asadoorian, Jr.; nine great-nieces and three great-nephews. She also leaves her beloved dog and companion of 11 years, a papillon named Renny.

A graveside service will be held at noon on Thursday, Sept. 4 at the West Tisbury cemetery. A gathering for family and friends will follow immediately at the Mansion House in Vineyard Haven.
