Paul S. Bangs, a resident of Moose Hill Road in Livermore Falls, Me., died Sept. 10 at Franklin Memorial Hospital following a lingering illness. He was 80.

He was born on May 9, 1928 in West Tisbury, the son of Paul B. and Adelaide (Downs) Bangs. He was educated in horology (clock making) in Chicago, Ill., and also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On Nov. 11, 1948, he married Dorothy Perkins in Bedford. He worked as a heliarc welder and owned his own business, Boondock Welding in Douglas. His family was his pride and joy and family gatherings were his greatest pleasure. He was a member of the Masons, the Livermore Falls Historical Society and his hobby was repairing watches.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy of 59 years of Livermore Falls; two daughters, Jeanette MacDonald and her husband Ross of Livermore, and Allison O’Brien and her companion Scott Harper of Norton; a son, Paul L. Bangs and his wife Sharon of Charlton, and five grandchildren, Megan, Aaron and Jill MacDonald, Jenny-Elizabeth O’Brien and Jason Bangs. He was predeceased by a sister, Adelaide Urquhart and a brother, Stewart A. Bangs.
