Florence Debora (Debbie) Olsen died suddenly at home in Centerville on Oct. 10. She was 69.
Born on the Vineyard on August 18, 1939, she graduated from the Oak Bluffs High School. In June of 1957 she married John Olsen Jr. and lived most of her life on the Vineyard where they had two sons, John Olsen 3rd, and Zeb. She and her husband operated a farm and a business on the Vineyard where she worked as the bookkeeper.
They loved to travel in their motor home for many years until they moved to Centerville in 1997. She was an active member of the Osterville United Methodist Church.
Debbie was predeceased by her husband in 2000 after 43 years of marriage, her son John Olsen 3rd in May of 2007, and her sister Emily this past August.
She is survived by her son Zeb of Centerville, sisters Shirley Smith of Vineyard Haven, Gloria Steere of Oak Bluffs, Janet Packish of Falmouth, Nancy Howes of Dennis, Rosemary Finley of Madison, Ala., brothers David Steere of West Tisbury, and Stephen Steere of Richman Hill, Ga., as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Visiting hours were held on Tuesday in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home in Mashpee.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday at the Osterville United Methodist Church. Interment was at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Vineyard Haven.
