Audrey Fisher Wilson died on Nov. 2 at the Sun City Convalescent Center in Sun City, Calif.
She was born in New Bedford on August 28, 1921 and raised in Edgartown, a daughter of the late Evelyn and Errol Fisher.
She graduated from the Edgartown High School and was the winner of the Dean Memorial Scholarship and the Franklin Medal for excellence in United States history. She graduated from Brockton Business College in 1941. From there she worked for five years with the U.S. War Department in Washington, D.C., as a medical secretary.
In 1946 she married William H. Wilson, chief warrant officer in the U.S. Navy. Audrey was able to travel with her husband to Rota, Spain and to the Philadelphia Naval Base while on his tour of duty. When he served on aircraft carriers she remained in California, where they both eventually retired. He died in 1977.
She is survived by two sisters, Charlotte Walpole of Edgartown and Marilyn Vater of Tucson, Ariz.; also Stuart and Donna Walpole, Randy, Jill and Kate Walpole, all of Edgartown, several nieces and her faithful friend Marion Wardell.
Interment will be in the new Military National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif. Arrangements are under the care of Evans-Brown Mortuaries of Sun City.
