Millicent Rose Spargo of Randolph and Oak Bluffs, formerly of Los Angeles., Calif., died at her home in Randolph on Oct. 26 after a lengthy illness. She was 85 and was the beloved wife of Donald H. Spargo and the mother of Earle A. Spargo.

She served her country during World War II in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1943 to 1946.

Upon retiring Millicent took on many volunteer jobs in Randolph, including at the Turner Free Public Library. She started the library volunteer program among many other events, and for many years was treasurer and administrator at the Trinity Episcopal Church.

While on the Island during the summer months, for over 30 years she volunteered at the Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary and in the public libraries in Oak Bluffs, Vineyard Haven and Edgartown. She fished on the Skipper out of Oak Bluffs and swam at Inkwell Beach.

Visiting hours were held on Nov. 4 and a funeral service was held on Nov. 5 in Randolph.
