Lane West Fuller, 92, a longtime resident of Falmouth, died on Nov. 27 at the Royal Megansett Nursing Home in North Falmouth. He was married for 55 years to Virginia Fitz Fuller. He was also husband to the late Kathryn D. Walton Fuller.

He was born in Boston, the son of the late Raymond C. and Rachel Ware Fuller. He was educated at Wakefield High School, Tabor Academy, Severn School and graduated from Brown University, Class of 1940, where he lettered in football and wrestling.

After college he entered the U.S. Navy and served in the Atlantic aboard the USS Texas and then as commander of a flotilla of LSTs in the Pacific during World War II. He retired in 1961 from the Naval Reserves. He worked as sales manager at Daggett Chocolate Company in Cambridge until 1961 when he entered the advertising business as an account executive at Horton, Church & Goff in Providence, R.I.

Mr. Fuller was a longtime resident of East Falmouth (Menauhant) and Dataw Island, S.C. He served as commodore of the Menauhant Yacht Club, president of the Woods Hole Golf Club, chairman of the Wakefield school committee, president of the Falmouth Visiting Nurses Association and a member of the board of directors of the Grace Memorial Church in Menauhant.

He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and especially sailing for which he awarded the Sears Bowl.

Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Winship C. Fuller of East Falmouth and Dover and Ware D. Fuller of Sudbury; two step-daughters, Diane T. Bushfield and Wendy T. Bigelow, both of Ormond Beach, Fla., eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is the brother of Patricia Sherman of Falmouth and Vineyard Haven and the late Norman Fuller.

A memorial service will be held during the summer of 2009. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations in Lane’s memory may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Boston, 10 Chandler Street, Boston, MA 02116. Arrangements are by the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home of Falmouth.
