Barbara N. Hanover of Oak Bluffs and Ft. Myers, Fla., died on Tuesday, June 2 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. She was 78.

She was born in Quincy on Dec. 11, 1930, to Stuart and Isabel Winters Nelson. She was a graduate of Quincy North High School. While attending Boston University, she met her future husband, Harold S. Hanover. They were married on Jan. 14, 1950, at the Boston University Chapel in Boston. They moved to California and had two sons, Marc Nelson and Randy Siede.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband Harold and her son Randy. She is survived by her son Marc Hanover and his wife Toni of Oak Bluffs; five grandchildren, Kevin and Robyn Hanover, Jaime and Samantha Billings and Antone Lima; a brother, Stuart Nelson and his wife Judy of Laconia, N.H.; and a sister, Lorrie Daniels and her husband Robert of Quincy.
