On May 3 while riding his bike with a friend outside his summer home in Camden, Me., Frank B. (Terry) Jewett 3rd, died suddenly. He is being buried this weekend in Maine.
Terry grew up summering on the Vineyard, was an avid sailor and loved being on the water. He crewed and skippered Solings for almost 40 years and distinguished himself being a crew member on the family boat Epee winning the first Atlantic Coast Sailing Championship. His deep-water races included the Bermuda Race, and most recently the Halifax Race.
He was one of the first managers of the Vineyard Haven Yacht Club.
Terry graduated from Tabor Academy, Columbia University, and Columbia University Graduate School for Business. He retired from business 25 years ago to consult and teach. At the time of his death he was a professor at Monroe College.
He is survived by his wife, Carla Feldman Jewett, of New York and Camden, Me.; daughter Whitney Jewett of California; son Winn Jewett of Colorado, brother Robert Jewett of Minnesota and Vineyard Haven; and sisters Rebecca Jewett Rendall and Edar Jewett of Shelbourne, Vt.
He was loved and will be missed by his students, friends and family.
