Lori Marie Giacomini of the Vineyard and Boston died on Oct. 4 while visiting friends in Illinois. She was 38.

Lori was born in Albany, N.Y. She worked in the biotech field and had a passion for science. Lori was a graduate of Boston University with a degree in English.

Lori was fearless; she learned to fly airplanes, took fencing lessons, went to a dude ranch, and traveled all over the country and internationally. She was a talented artist and had a love for birds and horses. Her pet parrots were her children. She loved and spoiled her nieces and nephews.

She was incredibly intelligent, enjoyed a healthy political debate, and had an infectious laugh that everyone who knew her will miss. Lori had so many friends and was incredibly generous and supportive of everyone in her life. We will think of her when we go to the beach each summer and how she loved to swim in the ocean. She loved our large family dinners. She enjoyed gourmet cooking and appreciated fine wine.

She was predeceased by her father, James L. Giacomini and is survived by her mother, Sharon Giacomini-O’Neil and her two sisters, Tracy Oteri and Carrie Giacomini-White, her nieces and nephews, Danielle, James, Jack, Heather and Heidi, her brothers in law, aunts, uncles, grandparents and her cousins, Shelley and Matt Venus.

There will be a service on Lambert’s Cove Beach in West Tisbury on Oct. 24 at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to the American Heart Association or the MSPCA.
