Jesse Terry Silva, 88, of Woodside Village, Oak Bluffs died on Sunday, Dec. 13 at the Falmouth Hospital.

He was born on Feb. 26, 1921 in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge-Rindge and Latin High School. He worked for the Cambridge City Hospital as an orthopedic technician for 36 years.

He moved to Martha’s Vineyard in 2002 from Melrose. He previously also lived in Medford and Woburn.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

Terry enjoyed reading and loved his grandchildren and enjoyed socializing with his many dear friends.

He is survived by his two daughters, Meg Burke and her husband David of Edgartown, and Christine Patterson and her husband, William of Gales Ferry, Conn.; six grandchildren, Dylan and Dyana Burke and Jessica, Katie, Rebecca and Ian Patterson; his brother, John Vann of Hudson, Fla., and many friends.

His funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec. 18 in the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main street, Falmouth at noon, officiated by Rev. Msgr. John Perry and interment will follow in the VA National Cemetery in Bourne. The family will be receiving friends prior to the service at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
