James R. Sweeney Jr.

James (Jimmy) Robert Sweeney Jr., 45, of Rockford and formerly of Martha’s Vineyard, died Jan. 10, 2010, due to heart disease.

Born May 31, 1964, to James and Joyce (Foster) Sweeney Sr., he graduated from Jefferson High School in 1982 and was employed in the family business, Airport Cafe. He enjoyed time with family, Rockford IceHogs hockey and was a computer fantasy gamer.

He is survived by his parents; his brother Mark Sweeney; “little sister” Heather; sons Zachary Sweeney and Carl Mauk; fiancée Jill Herron and her children, Zachery, Anna and Karisten; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by paternal and maternal grandparents and brother Robert Joseph. Visitation will be today, Friday, Jan. 15 from 4 to 6 p.m. in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the family.
