Bruce D. (Rooster) Scott, 69, of Edgartown died on Wednesday, June 23 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Constance (Pero) Scott. Bruce was born in New York city on June 6, 1941, to William S. and Ruth (Goodman) Scott. He grew up in Wilmette/Kennelworth, Ill., and was a graduate of New Trier High School, Winnetka, Ill. He went on to Mondell Institute of Engineering in New York city. He worked for several years in the engineering field and then was a manager of country clubs for many years. Bruce retired to the Island in 1982 and became an avid fisherman. He had a great love for horses as well as dogs.

Besides his beloved wife, Bruce is also survived by his sister, Michelle Scott of Richmond, Va., and a cousin, Dr. Joseph Butterweck of Friant, Ca., as well as several other cousins. At his request, a private service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in his memory to the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard, payable to County of Dukes County, P.O.
