Kathleen Ann (McLean) Gillis of Vineyard Haven died at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital on Friday, July 9, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Kathleen was a 1960 graduate of Belmont High School and attended Burdett College. She served as the Tisbury town clerk for two terms in the 1980s and worked for many years in the admissions office of the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. She was also a member of the Farm Neck Golf Club.

She was the beloved wife of James J. Gillis Jr. and devoted mother of Justine C. Chisholm of Oak Bluffs, Lynn A. Gillis of Hull, Peter J. Gillis of Boston and Oak Bluffs and Megan A. McBroom of Whitman. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sisters Judith Hargreaves of New York, and Ann Sund of Naples, Fla.; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Gordon J.B. and Louise (Taylor) McLean, and her brother Keith McLean.
