Mario DeBari Jr., 67, longtime resident of Glastonbury, Conn., and more recently of the Vineyard died peacefully on Tuesday, June 15, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, with his loving daughters by his side.

Mario was born in Hartford, Conn., on Feb. 19, 1943, son of the late Mario Sr. and Margaret (Villa) DeBari. After high school Mario graduated with his associate’s degree in agriculture from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, and then received his bachelor’s degree from Delaware Valley College in Pennsylvania. Besides his love for farming, he was an avid gardener, loved music and dancing, along with his taste for fine dining. He owned and operated his farm in Glastonbury before moving to Martha’s Vineyard to open Mario’s Taxi Service.

He is survived by his two loving daughters and their families, Meredeth and Robert Zaches and their children, Tyler and Brooke Zaches, all of Glastonbury, and Jennifer and Andrew Giantonio and their son, Nicholas Giantonio, all of Windsor Locks; two sisters, Dorothy Manner of Stafford Springs and Maureen Anderson and her husband, David, of Ocala, Fla.; a brother, Joseph DeBari of Summerfield, Fla.; his former wife, Emmy Lou (Carle) DeBari; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Family and friends are invited on Friday, Oct. 15, at 1 p.m. to the Bend in the Road Beach in Edgartown for a memorial service with the Rev. Roger Spinney officiating, followed by an informal gathering at The Grill, 227 Upper Main street in Edgartown. Please RSVP to Meredeth Zaches at 860-209-8834 by Oct. 13.
