Robert W. Hart, former resident of Connecticut, Maine, Florida and Martha’s Vineyard, died at his home in Falmouth on Sept. 4 at the age of 54. He was the husband of Helen DeMello Hart.

Bob was born on Nov. 16, 1955, in Camp Lejeune, N.C., to Robert Hart Sr. of Sebring, Fla., and Mary Aimes Hart Pekari of Chappaquiddick.

A graduate of Trumbull High School, class of 1973 in Trumbull, Conn., he went on to attend Bridgeport University in Bridgeport, Conn.

Bob was known as a skilled carpenter and cabinetmaker who worked for various companies throughout his career including Thoughtforms Corp. in Acton as a finish carpenter and project supervisor. He was most proud of several awards he received from Disney World in Orlando, Fla., for excellence in design and fabrication, and their highest award for Partners in Excellence, for which he was nominated two years in a row.

Among Bob’s favorite interests and hobbies were spending time with his loved ones and his dogs. He loved the beach, ocean, fishing, kayaking, listening to blues music and the Rolling Stones. He was a fun-loving spirit who loved to tell jokes and make people laugh.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a stepfather, Frederick Pekari Sr. of Chappaquiddick; a son, Robert S. Hart of Gardiner, Me.; three stepchildren, Craig Lockwood of Falmouth and Jennifer Sanders and her husband, Alex, of Mashpee; two sisters, Lorri Hart of Edgartown and Cheryl Frappier of Clearmont, Wyo. He also is survived by four grandchildren, Dezirae Claudio, Jordan, Isabella and Mia Sanders, all of Mashpee, and by his former wife, Kim Chang, of Richmond, Me. Bob also is survived by a circle of loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Percy S. and Dorothy Felton Hart of Richmond, Me., and by his maternal grandparents, Peter Martin and Ethel Sherrill Aimes of West Haven, Conn. his aunt Dorothy Jean Trott of South China, Me., and his uncle Robert M. Aimes of Alton, N.H.

Bob was a descendant of Dr. John Martin Aimes, a prominent West Haven, Conn., physician of the 1860s after whom Aimes Point, West Haven was named.

Services were held at Richmond Corner Baptist Church in Richmond, Me., on Monday, Sept. 20, with his cousin Pastor Linwood Trott of the Woodland Baptist Church, Baileyville, Me., officiating. Interment of his cremains was in Forest Hills Cemetery in Dresden, Me., alongside his beloved grandfather Percy S. Hart.

Donations in Bob’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Bob will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
