Dr. Louis J. Zglobicki, 67, of Cumberland Foreside, Me., died unexpectedly on Friday, May 20 at the Maine Medical Center. He was 67.

Born in New York city, he was the son of Wanda and Mieczyslaw Zglobicki. He graduated from the New England College of Optometry, then served in the U.S. Navy. Following his discharge, he practiced optometry in Falmouth and Scarborough, Me. An avid gardener and recreational fisherman, he eagerly looked forward to participating in the annual Martha’s Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby.

Louie was appointed to the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission and New England Fisheries Council, was a member of Portland Surfcasters, the Falmouth Lions Club, and the Polish National Alliance. He also was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Yarmouth, Me.

Despite his birth in New York, Louie was a devoted Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. As much as he will be missed, we know he has found his “secret” fishing spot in heaven.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Diane (Warren) Zglobicki of Cumberland Foreside; daughter Andrea, son Matthew and his wife Molly; grandson Owen; sister Genevieve; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Thursday, May 26 at at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yarmouth, Me.
