Thomas Daniels Wolff of Kelso, Wash., died at the Hospice Care Center in Longview, Wash., on May 18. He was 66.

Tom was born March 2, 1945, to the late Dr. John S. Wolff Jr. and Emma (Daniels) Wolff in Rochester, N.Y. He grew up in Corning, N.Y., (he delivered papers for the Corning Leader) and graduated from Corning Northside High School. He graduated from University of Buffalo (SUNY) with a degree in library science. Some years later he obtained his master’s degree in library science in Washington State.

He taught linguistics at North Shore Community College in Beverly, and also at the University of Heidelberg in Heidelberg, Germany.

Tom has worked for various corporations over the years and recently worked for and did all the computer work for H& H Self-Storage in Longview.

He was a proud member of AA; he enjoyed learning and teaching and was a member of the Kelso-Longview Elks Lodge and the Universalist Church. He embraced Zen Buddhism.

He is survived by his love and companion, Candice Rickles of Kelso, Wash.; stepsons Tim Ehhalt and Patrick Ehhalt, both of California; brothers John Wolff of New Jersey, Bruce Wolff of Virginia and Roswell Wolff of Singapore; his stepmother (Mom) of 60 years, Eck Wolff of Edgartown; and many loving friends, among them Nadine Clark and Betty Cosgrove.

A celebration of his life was held on Monday, May 23 at the Kelso-Longview Elks Lodge, with the exalted ruler Susan Sherwin officiating.
