Thomas J. (Grizz) Adams of Honeoye Falls, N.Y., and Edgartown, died on June 11 at the age of 69.

He came by his nickname honestly, but to many he was just a great big teddy bear. He was a lover of life and nature and did his best to enjoy both to the fullest. Tom split his time by enjoying his farm in Mendon, N.Y., the ocean in Martha’s Vineyard and the woods in Springwater.

He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, his many friends throughout Mendon and Edgartown and especially his beloved golden retriever, Sienna.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary Grosjean Adams. He is survived by his dedicated love of 20 years, Michele Whitney; daughters Debi Maloney and her husband Jim, and Amy Myers and her husband Bill; son Gordon Jones and his wife Jennifer; sister, Molly Parker and her husband Chris; nephew Christopher Parker; and Michele’s children, Whitney and Boise Rogers. He also leaves his grandchildren who each adored him in their own special way: Alex, Griffin and Olivia Jones, Tee, Neilly and Will Myers.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard, P.O. Box 1829, Edgartown, MA 02539.

A graveside service will be held at the New Westside Cemetery in Edgartown at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 30.
