Pamela L. Rogers, age 61, died suddenly on Monday morning Sept. 26 at the Henry Mayo Hospital in California. She was 61.

The beloved wife of the late Sgt. John F. Rogers of Edgartown and daughter of the late Victoria A. Gibb, Pam was born in New Bedford. She moved to the Island in her younger years and resided in Edgartown with the love of her life, John Rogers. After John died, Pam moved to the Cape where she became a pharmacy technician. Years later she decided to retire and move to California to live with her daughter, Heather Rogers, and grandsons, Hunter and Joey.

“If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, I would walk right up to Heaven and bring you back again.

“No farewell words were spoken, No time to say goodbye. You were gone before I knew it, and only God knows why.

“My heart still aches with sadness, and secret tears still flow. What it meant to love you — no one can ever know.

“But now I know you want me to mourn for you no more; To remember all the happy times life still has much in store.

“Since you’ll never be forgotten, I pledge to you today — A hollowed place within my heart is where you’ll always stay.”

She is survived by her four daughters, Wendy L. Burke of Yarmouthport, Stephanie A. Johnson of Taunton, Heather J. Rogers of Santa Clarita, Calif. and Kellie Bettencourt-Martin of Oak Bluffs; three brothers, Alan R. Gibb of New Bedford, John Gibb of Oak Bluffs, and the late Ronald J. Gibb; grandsons Patrick, Liam, Aidan, Hunter, Joey and Andrew; nieces and nephews Christopher, Melissa, Marissa, Jessica, Tori, Sean and Hannah.

There will be a graveside service on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 11 a.m. at the New Westside Cemetery in Edgartown.
