James John Kresel of The Villages, Fla., a former chemistry teacher at Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, died on Jan. 14. He was 64.

Born in Boston, he moved to The Villages in 2011 from the Vineyard.

Baptist by faith and retired as a teacher, Mr. Kresel was also a pharmacist at Children’s Hospital Boston and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, N.H. He was past president of New England Swimming, loved all trains and his dog Arabella.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen C. Kresel, The Villages, Fla.; daughter Susan K. Kaden and her husband Jonathan, Highland Park, Ill.; sons Jonathan J. Kresel and his wife Courtney of Norwood, and Joshua J. Kresel of the Vineyard; sister Veronica A. Daley and her husband James, Lyme, N.H.; grandsons Benjamin James and Ari Jacob Kaden; and an aunt, Mary O’Brien, of West Roxbury.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Walpole.
