Jennifer M. Fiske of Edgartown died unexpectedly on Sunday, Sept. 2 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. She was 42.
Jennifer Marie (Batten) Fiske was born on June 10, 1970, the first-born child of Douglas and Diane (Fauteux) Batten of Edgartown. She would later be joined in life by a younger sister, Stacie (Batten) Willoughby, her only sibling.
In the spring of 1990, Jennifer gave birth to Cassandra, the first of her three daughters. In early May of 1998 she married Robert Fiske, the son of Robert and Janet (Files) Fiske of South Dennis. Together, Jennifer and Robert resided in Edgartown and gave life to two daughters; Kelsey in March 2000, and Paige in February 2002. In addition to those mentioned, Jennifer is survived by several aunts, uncles, in laws, nieces, a nephew, numerous cousins and many friends, as well as, her devoted Boston terrier, Dahlia.
Although living her entire young life as a resident of Martha’s Vineyard, Jennifer thoroughly enjoyed traveling with her husband and family. Among her favorite places was the state of Alaska and the islands of the Caribbean. To those who knew and loved Jennifer, she is best described as equal parts leather and lace, and always offered a helping hand, an empathetic ear, or a loving embrace, and will be sadly missed.
A celebration of life was held for Jennifer at the American Legion on Katama Road in Edgartown on Sept. 12.
