A memorial service for Thomas Hale of Vineyard Haven will be held on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 1 p.m. at the Old Whaling Church in Edgartown. A reception will follow on the first floor of the church. Mr. Hale died on Sept. 16 at the age of 87. He was an artist and historian, author and former longtime owner of the Martha’s Vineyard Shipyard.
