Shirley Ruth Pachico died peacefully at her home in Oak Bluffs on Sunday Nov. 18.

She was born in Oak Bluffs on Dec. 15, 1930, the daughter of Bertha May and Anthony R. Silva She was raised on the Vineyard where she spent her whole life and was educated at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School. She married Arthur F. Pachico and raised five children on the Island.

In 1967 Arthur and Shirley bought the Ritz Cafe on Circuit avenue and made it into the great establishment and family-run business that it is today Shirley belonged to the Island Doll Club for many years, while also making and selling her own style of dolls. She enjoyed traveling and was able to visit Italy, Ireland and Portugal. But whether it was out to breakfast at Linda Jean’s, playing games, or being the number one go-to person for pops and candy, there was nothing Shirley loved more than spending time with her grandchildren on her farm in Oak Bluffs.

She was predeceased by her husband and parents. She is survived by her son Steven Pachico and daughters Rebecca Greer, Christine Arenburg, Janet L. King and Wendy Oliver, all of Oak Bluffs. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Her funeral service was held Wednesday, Nov. 28 at the Trinity Methodist Church in Oak Bluffs followed by interment in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Vineyard Haven.
