Joseph J. Alconada of West Tisbury, formerly of Stoughton, died at Windemere Nursing Home in Oak Bluffs on March 18. He was 83. Joseph was born in Boston on March 23, 1929 to Joseph J. and Dorothea A. (Strecker) Alconada. He was a graduate of Boston Technical School.

Joseph was the beloved husband of Barbara A. (Hough) Alconada. They resided for many years in Stoughton before moving year-round to Martha’s Vineyard. Joseph worked for many years as a sales engineer for Johnson Controls and later for J. Gwynn Company.

Joseph was a communicant of Our Lady of the Rosary in Stoughton. He also enjoyed golf.

Besides his beloved wife, Joseph is survived by his son Michael J. Alconada of Taunton; his daughter Cheryl L. Kram of West Tisbury; his brothers Jack of Port Orange, Fla., Frank of Marshfield and Paul of Weymouth; and five grandchildren.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 23, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Parish Church on 55 Commercial street in Weymouth.
