Patricia (Patty) Fuller Mann-Sherman died on April 3 at her home in Falmouth. She was the daughter of Rachel and Raymond Fuller and spent all her summers in Vineyard Haven sailing at the Vineyard Haven Yacht Club and swimming long laps in Vineyard Haven harbor.

Patty was a graduate of Cushing Academy and Wheaton College and taught preschool and grade school music at schools in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

She was married to Howell Francis Mann until his death, and then married Richard Dana Sherman, also a longtime summer resident of Vineyard Haven. Patty was an active lifelong member of the Episcopal Church and served on numerous vestries and worship committees. She took great pleasure and pride seeing her daughter prepare for her graduation this spring from the Episcopal Divinity School, readying for her ordination in the Episcopal Church. Known affectionately as Patty-cakes by her family, Patty was a passionate advocate and supporter of human and civil rights, peace and justice. She participated in many spirited discussions, winning others over to her cause.

Patty is survived by her husband, Richard Sherman; her daughter, Lucretia Mann, and son, Lane Mann; grandsons Michael Lowe, Nicholas Lowe and Benjamin Lowe, granddaughters Charlotte Mann and Chelsea Mann; a niece, Melinda Fuller Loberg, and nephews Winship Fuller and Ware Fuller; a great granddaughter, Olivia Lowe; step-children Marjorie Lee Sherman, Dana Sherman Jr. and Jeffrey Sherman; step-grandchildren Anne Wainwright Mader, Matthew Wainwright, Richard Sherman 3rd, Corey Sherman and Connor Sherman; and step-great grandchildren Kyle Hilker and Lyla Mader.

A memorial service will be announced for later this spring. Memorial gifts may be sent to Grace Episcopal Church in Vineyard Haven, or to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Falmouth.
