Jeffrey P. Kurth died peacefully at his home in Chilmark on August 10 surrounded by loved ones. He was 68.

Born in Johnson City, N.Y., Jeffrey was the son of the late Conrad and Georgiana Kurth. After moving to the Vineyard with his family in 1956, Jeffrey attended public schools and graduated from Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School in 1962. He spent the next four years in Laredo, Texas, with the U.S. Air Force. Upon his return to the Vineyard, Jeff went into the well-drilling and plumbing business with his father. He subsequently became the proud owner of C. Kurth and Sons.

Jeffrey was the loving husband of Anne (Ryan) Kurth, father to Jeffrey Jr., Jason, Krissy, Ryan and Matthew, and grandfather to Jason D. Kurth. He was the brother to Conrad and his wife Sara, Mark, Gary and his wife Beth, Gregory and his wife Brenda, Wayne and his wife Gigi, Pamela Zimmer and her husband Tom, Arlene Hinckley and Liz, Deborah Searle and husband Alex, Wendy Winner and husband Ron and the late David Kurth. He was also the best uncle to many fun-loving nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his love of family, quick wit, his generosity and his positive attitude.

Jeff was interred in the Abel’s Hill Cemetery on August 15 with full military honors. Donations may be made in his name to Martha’s Vineyard Little League: 78 N. Williams street, Tisbury, MA 02568, att: Lorne Lewis.
