Patricia Ford Smith died peacefully on Sept. 12. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Prentice Kellog Smith, in 2008.

Patricia was born in New York city in 1923 to Henry and Harriet Ford.

Mrs. Smith was a graduate of the Chapin School, the Westover School, and attended Sarah Lawrence College. After her sophomore year she left college and joined the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the predecessor of the CIA, at their offices in New York city to support the war effort. She was a G-2 clerk in the Europe Section. After the war she returned to civilian life, married and raised a family.

Mrs. Smith was often an anonymous but generous supporter of charities. Many but not all of these charities were located on Harbour Island, The Bahamas, which was her winter home for more than 25 years.

She is survived by her sons, Prentice K. Smith and Henry W.F. Smith; and her daughter, Patricia F. Ozek; and her six grandchildren, Kelly, Jennifer, Hunter, Henry Jr., Hannah and William.

Patricia was loved by her family and friends for her humor and her joy of life.

A private graveside service is planned for family members and friends.
