Jeffrey Earl Leonard of Vineyard Haven died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, Dec. 12. He was 58.

He was born May 6, 1955 in Oak Bluffs. He grew up on State Road with his family. He attended elementary school and high school on Martha’s Vineyard and was quite a track star.

Jeff loved to deep sea fish, wind surf, ride his motorcycle and do carpentry work. He was always working with his hands whether it be on his boat, with furniture or on his computer.

He will be truly missed by his family, relatives and all of his wonderful friends. He was a wonderful and kind man.

The family would like to thank all their friends, relatives far and near, and the Tisbury EMS and police department.

He was predeceased by his father Joseph Patrick Leonard and his mother Wilma Jean Leonard. He is survived by his brother Ronald J. Leonard and his wife Robyn F. Leonard of Altadena, Calif., and their daughters Lorienne and Jaclyn; his brother Randy C. Leonard of Harwich and his daughters Nicole, Christina, Mariel and Catherine; his sister Susan J. Leonard, also of Vineyard Haven, and her son Jeffrey; and great-nieces and nephews Zoe, Riley, Lacey, Angelina and Elijah.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Portuguese American Club on Sunday, Jan. 12 from 1 to 4 p.m.
