Cynthia Mary Vieira, 83, of Pocasset and a native of Martha’s Vineyard, died on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014 at the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich. Cynthia was the mother of Herbert Devine Jr. and Nancy A. Lopes. She was also one of seventeen children of Peter A. and Mary (Silvia) Moreis who predeceased her. She is survived by her siblings, T.M. Araujo, Joseph Araujo, David Araujo, John Araujo, Julio Araujo, James Moreis, Sr., Anna Mae Cecelio, Madeline Moreis, Josephine Tucker and Adelena Vanderhoop.

Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 17 at Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, Edgartown Road, Oak Bluffs. Her funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Augustine’s Church, Franklin street, Vineyard Haven on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. officiated by Rev. Michael Nagle. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, State Road, Vineyard Haven.
