Randall Cooper Davis of Pensacola, Fla., died of natural causes on Nov. 17, 2014 in the presence of his beloved sons and family. He was 66.

Randall was born in New Britain, Conn., on July 6, 1948 to Donald and Virginia Davis. He attended New Britain High School and graduated from Penn State University. He then went on to earn a master’s degree in English literature from Wesleyan University. Randall then served in the Peace Corps, stationed on the island of Dominica. His mission there was to support the local community of fishermen by teaching them how to repair outboard motors on their boats. Returning to Connecticut, Randall began his teaching career in the Hartford school system where he taught English for more then 20 years.

To family and friends, Randall will always be remembered for his love and dedication to the creative process. Music, art, prose and poetry were his passions.

Besides his two sons, Erik and Emil Davis, Randall is survived by his mother Virginia C. Davis, his five brothers and sisters; Deborah Kvam, Donald Davis, Palmer Davis, Jennifer Davis and Ruthie Davis Weir, and 13 nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2015 on Martha’s Vineyard.
