Marian Miller Cook died peacefully on Dec. 3 at VITAS Hospice near her home on Marco Island, Fla. She was 88.

Marian was born on July 3, 1926 in Whitewater, Wis. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and later earned her master’s degree in early childhood education from Wheelock College in Boston. With that degree, she enhanced many a young mind as a second and third grade teacher at Bowman Elementary School in Lexington.

She resided in Lincoln for over 50 years, enjoyed many summers on Martha’s Vineyard and eventually called her winter residence on Marco Island home.

Aside from her family, some of her many interests included travel, art, volunteer work, puzzles and scrabble.

She was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years Dr. Paul W. Cook Jr. and a brother William H. Miller of Pittsburgh. Marian had two sons, Peter and wife Janet, and John and wife Jean, and one daughter, Catherine. She was blessed with six grandchildren, Stephanie, Jason, Lesley, Danny, Christopher and Nicholas as well as five great-grandchildren.
