Sue (Donovan) Alton, of Forest Hills, Pa., died Feb. 11. She was 91.

Sue was a graduate of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and retired as a teacher from Churchill Area High School in Churchill, Pa. Sue was an extraordinary gardener, known to have a green thumb. She will be greatly missed by all who have had the pleasure to know her.

She was the beloved wife of the late David D. Alton for 43 years, and the loving mother of David Alton and his wife Coreen of Edgartown, Mary Stickel and her husband Thom of Ingomar, Pa., Kathy Krause and her late husband Paul of Forest Hills, Sue McPherson and her husband Chris of Forest Hills, Mark Alton and his wife Deni of Edgartown, J.T. Alton and his wife Linda of North Carolina, and John Alton and his wife Val of Forest Hills. She was the dear grandmother of Michelle, Jason and Tyler Alton of Edgartown; Matthew, Katie, and Joanna Krause, Brian McPherson, Erin McGough, and Derek, Kathryn, Truman, J.P. and David Dean Alton. She was the great-grandmother of William and Jackie McGough.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Jack and George Donovan and her sister Marge Parker.

Friends were welcomed from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13, at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home, 700 Linden avenue at Cable, East Pittsburgh, Pa.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated St. Maurice Church, Forest Hills on Saturday, Feb. 14.
