Bruce Phillip Fuller of Falmouth died on April 10 after a brief illness.

Bruce was a 1954 graduate of St John’s Prep, graduated from Temple University and received a master’s of art from Columbia University. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps reserves for eight years and had a distinguished teaching and coaching career within the Greenwich, Conn., public school system from 1958 to 1989. He married the love of his life, Therese Barry, on May 26, 1962.

In retirement he was an assistant football coach for the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, helping to win two state championships. Bruce was twice honored by the Greenwich Old Timers, earning a lifetime achievement award in 2013. Over the years he was an active volunteer with many organizations including the Red Cross, Call a Ride, the Food Pantry and Grace Episcopal Church in Vineyard Haven and, finally, the Falmouth Hospital.

An enthusiast of sports, pugs and good company, Bruce was never happier than when with family and friends and often used the terms Semper Fi and, Good Luck, Good Sports and God Bless.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sisters, Meryl Freeman and her husband Ted, and Dalene Rogers; many nieces and nephews including Mary, Mike, Tom, Jennifer, Evelyn, Michael, Julie and Corinne Feeley, Tom, Patti, Chris, and Devon Mullen, Kevin, Suzanne, Garry and Deidra Leonard, Michael, Paula, Mike and Helen Fuller.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church on Main street in Falmouth at 10 a.m. on April 22.

Donations may be made in Bruce’s honor to the Falmouth Hospital or St. John’s Prep in Danvers.
