Emma (Pat) Pratt Chesley died on Saturday, May 30 at Bolingreen Health and Rehabilitation Center in Macon, Ga. She was 96.

She was born on March 3, 1919 in Worcester, the daughter of the late Robert and Edyth Pratt. Mrs. Chesley had an older sister, Sally, and a younger sister, Edith.

She attended schools in Worcester and Stewart Hall in Virginia. She married Elwyn V. Chesley Jr. on April 17, 1943. They lived in Rowayton and Darien, Conn. before moving to Macon, Ga. in 2003. Elwyn passed away on July 6, 2006.

Mrs. Chesley started going to Menemsha when she was 13, and had a profound love for the Island. She passed that love on to her daughter, two grandsons, and two great-grandchildren. The family home is in Menemsha, where her grandson Christopher lives and the family spends their summers.

She was a homemaker, and involved in her daughter’s schools and activities. Emma was very active in her church, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Darien, Conn.

Mrs. Chesley was a loving grandmother to her two grandsons, Thomas 4th and Christopher, and spent as much time as possible with them as they grew up.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Jones Yetter and her husband George of Macon; grandsons Thomas Jones 4th and his wife Kathleen of Macon and Christopher Jones of Menemsha; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Thomas Jones 5th of Macon; and her sister Sally Snow Rasche.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 2 at North Macon Presbyterian Church, 5707 Rivoli Drive, Macon, Ga., 31210. Rev. Hunter Stevenson will officiate. Interment will be private, for family only, in Riverside Cemetery.
