Kathleen Ayers Ferland of Edgartown died peacefully on May 31, surrounded with love by her family. She was 53.
Born in Newport, R.I., she was the daughter of Mary Rundle Baker and her father who predeceased her, John P. Ayers.
Kathy’s recent graduation from Cape Cod Community College with an associate’s degree in liberal arts with Phi Theta Kappa Honors exemplified her love of learning. She was passionate about life, which included her love of reading, puzzles, walking and what gave her the most joy, being a mother to her two “Golden Treasures.”
Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Alfred, daughter Alexandra and son Elliot. She is survived and loved by her mother Mary and stepfather David, her sisters Julie and Coleen, and by many other family members and friends.
Visiting hours will be held at Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home in Oak Bluffs on Friday, June 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. Kathy’s funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Church on Franklin street in Vineyard Haven on Saturday, June 6 at 10 a.m. Reception to follow at the church hall. Private interment to be held at a later date.
