Kathleen A. Chesk, formerly of Oak Bluffs and South Deerfield, died on Jan. 31. She was 72.

She was a 1962 graduate of Frontier Regional High School in South Deerfield. After graduating, Kathy worked as a secretary for the Northampton Department of Public Works for about four years, then moved briefly to New York. In 1970 she and her friends Pat and Gloria vacationed on Martha’s Vineyard. Shortly thereafter Kathy returned and made Martha’s Vineyard her home. She worked for Michael Donaroma as office manager as he opened Donaroma’s Nursery and Landscape Services in Edgartown. She also did private accounting for many businesses on Island.

Kathy bought her house in Oak Bluffs in 1980. She loved her vacations to Jamaica every year until she retired because of multiple sclerosis in 1987. She lived in Oak Bluffs until her mom, Jessie Chesk, died in June 2011. She then went to Bourne Manor Extended Care in Bourne until she died.

She was predeceased by her parents, William G. and Jessie Chesk, her nephew William and niece Paula Chesk. Kathy leaves behind her brother William G. Chesk and his partner, Pat Budney of Safety Harbor, Fla. She also leaves her niece and nephew: Tammy (Chesk) O’Connor and her husband Kevin and their daughters Maeve, Maura and Molly of Lakeville; and nephew Michael Chesk and his wife Maggie of Swanville, Me.; and her cousin Cynthia Nickerson and her family.
