Virginia A. (Egan) Peterson of Ashland and Oak Bluffs died Saturday, April 9 at the Blaire House of Milford. She was 87 and the wife of the late Richard E. Peterson, who died in 2006.
Mrs. Peterson was born in Framingham, daughter of the late Bertrand and Ann (O’Connell) Egan. She lived in Framingham, Ashland and also Oak Bluffs.
She was a graduate of the Framingham High School class of 1945.
Mrs. Peterson retired in 1991 from Digital Equipment in Maynard, where she was employed as an executive. In her early years she was employed as a news reporter for the Record American in Boston. While on Martha’s Vineyard she owned and operated the former Talk to Your Plant Shop in Oak Bluffs.
She was the past president of the Young Women’s Club and a member of the Boston sea divers club.
Mrs. Peterson is survived by her sons, Richard Peterson of Florida, Scott Peterson and his wife Patricia of Medway, Cristen Peterson of Florida, and Dale Peterson and his wife Laurie of Fitchburg; seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
There are no calling hours. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Consigli Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water St., Milford, MA.
