William T. (Tony) Ratcliff of Oak Bluffs died on Thursday, April 21 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. He was 70.

Tony was married to Deborah M. (deBettencourt) Ratcliff.

His funeral service will be held at a later date to be determined and a complete obituary will appear in the Gazette at that time.

Donations may be made in Tony’s memory to the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard, P.O. Box 1829, Edgartown, MA 02539, animalshelterofmv.org.

My father will be missed dearly by his children and grandchildren. His unique sense of humor and the stories that only be could tell will live on in our memories. He instilled a sense of passion, pride and an incredible work ethic in both Jake and I, for which we are blessed and grateful for. Dad was a character... Who taught us much. Losing a father is tough, but when they sparkle and charm the way yours did, it's heartbreaking. Both of our Dads died of the same disease and I absolutely know how you must feel. Hang in there and remember as much as you can for as long as you can.

I renewed my acquaintance with Lydia and Tony when my mother died in 2009. They were close. He was a wonderful story teller and writer like his Dad. My mother and her mother died of lung disease. Tony lived life to the fullest. A great loss...
