Marie (Hermenau) Hadfield of Fall River died on Sunday, Jan. 29, at the Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Care Center. She was 94 and was the wife of the late Samuel Hadfield 3rd.

She was born in Bayonne, N.J., the daughter of the late Arthur E. and Louise (Pinkham) Hermenau. Her mother was born on Martha’s Vineyard.

Marie had lived in Westport for many years before moving to Fall River. Prior to her retirement in 1978, she worked as an office clerk for Dr. Robert Fairtile from 1965 to 1978 and she had also managed several Hadfield Companies. She was a member of the Westport C.O.A., Women’s Friends Westport and the Women’s Alliance of the Unitarian Church in Fall River.

Survivors include her brother William J. Hermenau Sr. of Taunton; her dear friend Janice Wood, along with several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Walter E., Carl E., and Arthur T. Hermenau and Louise F. Allingham.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Potter Funeral Home in Westport at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be Saturday at the funeral home from 9 to 10 a.m., prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Beech Grove Cemetery in Westport.
