Nannette M. West of Edgartown died on Wednesday evening, March 1 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. She was 69.

Her funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 5 at 1 p.m. at the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home in Oak Bluffs, officiated by Fr. Thomas Lopes. The family will begin receiving visitors at noon. Interment will follow at the New Westside Cemetery on Robinson Road in Edgartown.

So sad. Nannette was one of the first people I met when I moved to the island. We shared many happy times together. I am grateful that I had the chance to know her.

I went to the Edgartown School with Nanette and her brother, Wayne. I always thought Nanette was one of the most beautiful girls in the school and I thought how good it would be to run into her, in our present worlds, to let her know. I'm sorry I didn't have the chance. Always kind to me - at a time in a child's life when not everyone is. Rest happily, Nanette. My best to the family.
