Robert Pratt (Bob) Bigelow Esq. of Winchester died on March 23. He was the beloved husband of Katharine W. (MacKenty) Bigelow, who predeceased him.

He was a longtime summer resident of Edgartown and member of the Edgartown Yacht Club.

Bob received his A.B. (1950) and J.D. (1953) from Harvard University. He was a author, lawyer, mediator and arbitrator during a career of more than 50 years. From 1956 to 1966, he worked for John Hancock Life Insurance Company and for the next 40 years was of counsel and in private practice at Boston law firms and was partner in Bigelow & Saltzberg of Woburn. In 1966, he became an arbitrator and mediator. He was an active member of and held several positions at the Massachusetts Bar Association from 1969 to 1985. He was a pioneer in the field of computer law and former president (1977-1979) of the Computer Law Society, now the International Technology Law Association. He also taught at Dartmouth College and Suffolk Law School.

He was the loving father of Katharine (Kit) Bigelow and her husband, David Henderson, of Arlington, Va.; Robert (Bob) Bigelow and his wife Nancy of Winchester; Sanford (Sandy) Bigelow and his life-partner Gelina Tibbit of Tucson, Ariz.; and Edward (Ted) Bigelow and his wife Deena of Bloomfield, Conn. He was the adored grandfather of Andy, David, Walter, Katie, Mary E., Karryn, Stephen, Daniel and David, and cherished great-grandfather of Isaac and Shepherd. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews

A funeral service was held at the Parish of the Epiphany in Winchester on Saturday, April 8. Private interment was at Wildwood Cemetery.
