Barbara Marie Harding Kakas died peacefully on June 20. She was 100.

A longtime resident of Lexington, she was active at Hancock United Church of Christ, the Lexington Golf Club, the “Old” Belfry Club, the Outlook Club and many bridge groups. In her later years she lived independently at Carleton-Willard Village in Bedford and continued to be active in many groups. She played piano until recently and loved playing bridge and driving her car.

She was a longtime summer resident of Martha’s Vineyard, where her ancestors first settled in 1642. Her Island heritage seemed to have blessed her with resiliency and a positive outlook. Her family celebrates her life —a life well lived.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Gordon Kakas and is survived by her daughter, Sallyann Kakas, her three grandchildren, RK, Christian, and Elise Quebec, her brother Dick Harding, and several nieces and nephews.
