Barbara Wynne Secor of Vero Beach, Fla., died on Sept. 3 at her home. She was 98.

Barbara was born in New Haven, Conn. in 1918, the eldest child of Justice Kenneth and Mary Fielding Wynne. She attended local public schools in New Haven and graduated from Connecticut College in 1940. In 1941, she married William J. Secor Jr. They lived in the Waterbury, Conn. area for almost 70 years.

She spent more than 45 summers on Martha’s Vineyard, in Chilmark, with her family and many friends.

She was predeceased by her husband and by her eldest son, William Fielding Secor, as well as by two sisters, Betsey Brown Wynne and Mary Wynne Bohonnon, and two brothers, Kenneth Wynne and John Wynne.

She is survived by her youngest sibling, Louise Wynne Gigon; five children, Betsey Secor Delaney, John Hoover Secor and his wife, Leslie, Barbara Wynne Secor, Gertrude Elizabeth Hardy and her husband, Thomas, and Samuel Mason Secor; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

There will be a private memorial service in Chilmark at a later date.
