Terry Upson died at his home in Naples Florida on Dec. 16. He was 79.

Many from the Vineyard remember Terry and his family from the Abel’s Hill home where he spent most summers. Beach parties, races on the sailfish and driving to Squibnocket for further adventures were all part of the fun.

Terry’s love for the water, for sailing to Maine and Lake Ontario, brought a sense of joy to the adventure that made his life such a ride for those around him.

Summers on the Island were followed by a short time as a navel officer and then working for Chemical Bank, New York and Canada, and Bank of Boston. He retired to Naples, Fla.

He is survived by his wife, Mimi; his three children, Dan, Molly and Martha; his brother, Tim Upson and four grandchildren, Taylor, Madison, Claire and Matthew.
