Lori Mercier Dorsey died at home in Vineyard Haven on Feb. 6. She was 55.

She was born in Oak Bluffs to Toby Dorsey and Lucille Virginia (Meadows) Dorsey on Sept. 22, 1962. She was educated at the Tisbury School, Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School and Bridgewater State College. She attended the First Baptist Church of Vineyard Haven.

What people remember best about Lori was her smile and her love of meeting new people, music, laughter, and having her nose in a book.

She leaves behind her partner of 14 years, Leo Willoughby of Martha’s Vineyard; her sister, Corinne K. Dorsey of Vineyard Haven; her nephew, Toby D. Riseborough of North Providence, R.I.; her two nieces, Maggie May Riseborough of Vineyard Haven and Ashleen M. Cafarelli; and Ashleen’s daughter, Zoey, of Moore Haven, Fla. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Lucille and Toby, and an older sister, Denise Dorsey.

There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, March 18 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Vineyard Haven, on the corner of Spring and William street in Vineyard Haven. Reception to follow at the Parish Hall on William street.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church or the Serving Hands/Family to Family Mission.
