Bettie Davis of Vineyard Haven died on Wednesday, March 14, surrounded by her loving family. She was 93.

She taught math at the Tisbury school in Vineyard Haven from 1969 until her retirement. She also introduced computers to the school. She loved teaching and her students.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wanza A. Davis Jr., who also taught at the Tisbury school.

She is survived by her daughter Carro Davis Johnson and her husband, Dennis Johnson, of Vineyard Haven; her daughter Iris Davis of Medford; and her granddaughter, Dawn Meacham, of Vineyard Haven.

In lieu of flowers, Bettie’s last assignment was that everyone commit a random act of kindness in her memory.
