George Ludgero Gomez of Chappaquiddick died of Alzheimer’s disease on April 30 at the Center for Alzheimer’s Care in Wellesley. He was 78.

He was married to Susan L. (Diamond) Gomez and was the brother of Margaret Rhodes, Dorothy Scholwin, and Edward and James Gomez. He owned Works of Gomez Construction in Cambridge and worked throughout the surrounding areas of Boston.

A visitation period will be held on May 3 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home in Oak Bluffs, followed by interment at noon at the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Cemetery in Vineyard Haven.
