Jane T. Sabin of Needham, formerly of Wellesley, died in her home on June 20.

She was a Vineyarder and developed a love for the Island as a child, when she spent time during the summer in her family’s Methodist Camp Ground home. Later the family home was established on Ocean Park.

Jane was born in Woonsocket, R.I. to Editha (Teddy) and Lloyd Trewhella. She attended Burrillville, R.I. high school and the University of Rhode Island, and obtained her master’s in education from Boston University. Prior to the birth of her children, she worked as a third grade teacher in Winchester, and after her children were older as the director of operations at the Wellesley Community Center. She was an avid gardener and was involved with the vestry of her church, the church choir, and other philanthropic endeavors. Her kindness, exuberance for life, and energy will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Sabin; daughters Katie Sabin and Saera Sabin; grandson Jalen Haley; brother Charles Woods and wife Missy Woods; sister Janice Sue and husband George Stone; cousin Baily Fine and husband Stanley Fine; cousin Jono Evans and wife Gay Evans; cousin Richard Gariepy and wife Olga Gariepy; cousin Lloyd Gariepy and wife Ann Gariepy; several nieces, nephews, and extended family; and many friends she was blessed to call family.

Friends and family are invited to Jane’s celebration of life on August 18 starting at 1 p.m. at the family home in Oak Bluffs.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church Special Music Fund or organizations that are focused on the eradication of breast cancer, such as Dana Farber (P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02884-9168).
